Shoe last
Description
Wood block cut in the form of a shoe with a removable instep wedge. The last has a round toe. After the toe cap the wedge is set, having been cut from the last. The instep slopes upward, rounds off at its height and is then cut concavely, rejoining the last at the top. Underneath the highest point of the wedge is a threaded through-hole. The wedge is secured to the last by a metal nail on the wedge. Below the top of the last there is another threaded through-hole. From the top the heel curve extends to the seat. The seat sides are curved to form the waist before growing to the widest point at the last joints then tapering to form the toe. The entire heel of the seat is covered with nail holes while the other parts of the seat has only a few nail holes in comparison.
