Shoe last instep wedge, Canterbury, NH
Description
Wood block cut to form the wedge of a scoop block last. The base of the wedge is slightly curved and comes to a right angle where there is a half-circle face. At the center of the face there is a rectangular metal pin protruding which secures the wedge to the last. The top of the wedge is convex and tapers toward the opposite end. The top is rounded over in a concave line where it meets the base creating a thin edge. At the center of the edge there is a nail hole that has broken through to the edge. Below the top there is a through-hole 5/16" in diameter.
