Shoe last instep wedge, Canterbury, NH
Description
Wood block cut to form the wedge of a scoop block last. The base of the wedge is flat and comes to an obtuse angle at the half-circle face. There are two metal nails with the pointed end sticking out from the wedge to secure it to the last. The top of the wedge is convex and tapers toward the end. The top is rounded over and slopes downward in a concave line where it meets the base creating a thin edge. At the center of the edge there is a small U-shaped cut-out. Below the top there is a through-hole 3/8" in diameter.
