Description

Gear pattern of pine consisting of a segmented and laminated rim with forty 'teeth' set into the rim with running dovetails, six spokes converging at center which is filled with blocking to a diameter of 6 3/4". Where spokes meet rim, quarter round fillets are nailed on either side of spoke. One side has 3 5/8" diameter round hub covering center; other side is flat but has two holes as if for alignment pins for an adjoining portion of pattern. Pattern is unpainted except for thirty-nine of the teeth which are painted black.

Notes

According to accession records, this pattern was used to make the pinion gear for the Church Family sawmill's drive assembly (L1964.214.1).
