The shaft terminates with an iron flange with a mounting plate attached, about 9 1/4" diameter. The shaft is supported on either side of the large pulley by cast iron bearing housings with babbit metal bearings.

Notes

According to accession records, the pinion gear was cast from pattern 1950.1028.1. The pinion gear, shaft, and rack segment were removed from the ruins of the Church Family sawmill in 1964.
