Oval box form, Canterbury, NH
Description
Oval box form of white pine blocks glued and screwed together and cut and shaped to ellipse. This form was then cut in half cross-wise and iron plates screwed to each cut end. Relieves in the pine block at each corner of the plates accept steel nuts and bolts allowing the halves to separate 1/8". Brass bushings (threaded) are screwed through each half form and fit over the two cylinders protruding from the form vise. In addition, two brass plates are set into one side of the form at either end to serve as an anvil when clinch tacking the swallow tails.
