Last, Shoe
Shoe last, Canterbury, NH
Description
Wood block cut in the form of a shoe. The last has an almond-shaped toe. From the toe to the ball, on either side of the last, there are wooden pegs in a zigzag pattern. The height of the last increases toward the instep then plateaus at the top in an elongated oval shape. At the center of the plateau is a tube hole 1/2" in diameter. On the side of the last in line with the tube hole there is a crudely cut through-hole. From the top the heel curve extends to the seat. The seat sides are curved to form the waist before growing to the widest point at the last joints then tapering to form the toe.
