Last, Shoe
Shoe last, Canterbury, NH
Description
Wood block cut in the form of a shoe. The last has a round toe, from which the height of the last increases toward the instep, where there is an inscription, and then plateaus. Below the top there is a through-hole 5/16" in diameter filled with a plaster-like substance. From the top the heel curve extends 2 13/16" to the seat. The seat's sides are curved to form the waist and widens to the joint before tapering toward the toe. The seat has numerous nail holes which follow the last's outline.
