Curly soft maple with a turned shaft and carved handle from a single billet. Brass ferrule on bottom.
Provenance uncertain. Purchased from the Hancock, MA Shakers, so it may have originated in that community, but it may have also come from Mount Lebanon, as the Shakers living there moved to Hancock after the closure of the North Family in 1947.
