Native American-made black ash splint basket with lid, North Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Black ash splint basket (a) and lid (b), each with split rim, single lashing. 1" uprights; weavers alternate between 1 5/8" and 1/4 - 3/8", a pattern repeating on the bottom. Decorated with repeating figure, 7/8" x 1/2", of dark maroon semicircles with bisecting lines. 2 3/4" high rectangular lid with sides woven in same pattern as basket.
