Description

Commercially made, circular, light-colored black ash splint basket. 1 1/4" wide flat, split rim attached with 27 nails, bent on interior rim. Rim comes to triangular point under one handle. 1 3/8" wide uprights, 1/4" wide weavers. Raised base with weavers in circular pattern for about 4", uprights for another inch, weavers again in circular pattern for an inch, split upright in center, 5" in diameter. Double-grip "ear" handles of dark wood attached to exterior and held in place by metal loops that extend outward for 3/4" staples, and one notch that fits on underside of rim.

Notes

Probably commercially manufactured; the rim and handles are like those of baskets manufactured by Gage.
