Carrier handle bending form, North Family, Mount Lebanon, NY

Object ID:
1955.7763.1
Community:
New York, Mount Lebanon
Description

Carrier handle-bending form with form of basswood (Tilia americana) and secondary components of white pine (Pinus strobus). Side clamping bars are fixed; top bar tightened by two wedges, one of ash (Fraxinus americana) the other of basswood.

Notes

Accession card notes that this may be an older type of form than the ones obtained from George Roberts and used in the Church Family (#1952.5502.1 through 1952.5510.1), as these have wedges instead of screw clamps. Form is originally from the North Family, Mount Lebanon, New York Shakers.
