Oval carrier bearing trademark stamp of Alfred, ME
Description
Steam-bent beech carrier band and swing handle. Carrier has three swallowtails, pointing left, secured with copper tacks. White pine bottom header held by steel wire brads. Handle swings on brass rivets peened over copper burrs on inside. Carrier has four pair of 1/8" diameter holes where lining and accessories were tied. Remnants of batting remained glued into bottom of inside. Heavily varnished over natural wood.
