Crock

Description

Two-gallon stoneware crock and lid with a salt glaze. The outside of the crock is a glossy grayish-tan, and the inside is coated with a dark brown Albany slip. The crock (a) features a cobalt slip painted floral motif. The crock has two lug handles, one on each side. What appear to be vertical rub marks wrap around the crock approximately halfway up. Two grooves run around the top of the crock. The knob and top of the lid are coated in a satin tannish-yellow glaze surrounded by a ring of warm brown. The inner ring of the lid is a glossy tan and the rest of the inside of the lid is naked; a matte orange. The top of the lid features a relief of a flower.
