Description

Ellipse of white pine cut to shape from either side. Two holes 1/8" diameter drilled into one side along a chord near one long edge.

Notes

Probably intended to be the base for a table-top sewing workstand. The ellipse would have been covered with woven poplar or palm leaf, a low gallery attached via the nine holes, and four short legs secured to the underside. Small baskets for sewing goods and perhaps spool holders were added to the top.
