Description

Double two-door cupboard (b) over double cases of three-drawers each (a). Pine with walnut pulls, iron butt hinges and door catches. Back boards oriented horizontally with kraft paper glued over joints which have opened up as back boards shrunk. Each door has two-flat pine panels and chamfered frame surround inside and out. Top and bottom rails through tenoned into stiles center stiles have stopped mortise and tenons. Drawers are finely dovetailed and fronts are lipped on top and ends. Appears to have had a yellow-orange wash originally.

Notes

The cupboard was built in at its proper left end on the fifth floor of the Sisters' house, North Family, Shakers, Mount Lebanon, NY; removed from the building in 1948.
