Pen wiper doll, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Doll with white bisque head and feet; painted face and paint yellow hair. Arms are made of a dissimilar lightweight material and are attached to should with silver spring. Doll's dress fans out in alternate purple, orange, and blue folded felt pieces. Decorative belt of orange ribbon sits on dolls waist and ties at its rear. Doll has lace cape that covers top part of body and most of its arms.
Notes
These dolls were sold in the Shaker store. The skirt, which was made of scraps left over from cloaks made by the Mount Lebanon sisters, was used to wipe excess ink from pens.
