"Tucked finger" oval box, possibly an early Mount Lebanon box
Description
Steam-bent maple box (a) and lid (b) bands with swallow tails (three on box, one on lid) secured by wooden pegs. Swallow tail tip inserted through a slit in the band and glued inside. The white pine headers are held by wooden pegs as well. Box is oval, not elliptical. Exterior of box varnished. Box and lid sides opposite swallow tails decorated with red "flowers" and polka-dots which are varnished over.
Notes
