Object ID:

Community:

Description

Basket handle form consisting of a rectangular block of softwood with corners rounded over and retaining strips seared with wood screws fastened to sides (2 per side) and ends (one per end). These strips are about 1/8" from form block allowing steamed or boiled strips of wood for handles to be bent around form and slide down within retainers. Form is constructed so that handles could be bent around either end and, since the handle blanks were narrow, a number of handles could be bent at each end at the same time.
