Iron cover, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Iron goose pan of sheet iron cut and bent to form splay-sided stove cover. Corners lapped and riveted; strap handle riveted to top.
Notes
Also known as a "goose pan," it was used to cover a tailor's goose or iron on a wood burning stove to heat iron more quickly and to hold heat when the iron was not in use.
