Description

Chestnut-colored black ash splint basket. Square base and circular, split rim with crossed lashing. The rim is half-round on the interior and exterior. Uprights range in width from 3/8" - 1 1/4". First weaver below rim is 1 3/8" wide; the rest are 1/4" wide. Two open, rectangular spaces measuring 2 1/4" x 4 1/4" on either side of the basket for hand-gripping. Plain weave on base. Splints measuring about 10 1/2" with 1" triangular feet on the bottom inserted vertically underneath splints on each of four corners. A splint with a rectangular "foot" inserted horizontally on the center of the base's exterior, raises the basket 1".
