One drawer gateleg table, Enfield, CT
Description
Gate-leg table with tapered cherry legs, cherry end and back aprons and cherry drawer rail all secured to legs by pinned mortise and tenon joints. Gate-leg knuckle joint pivots on a hardwood pin. Inside apron of pine at gated corner secured to cherry end apron by half-blind dovetail joint. White pine top and leaf hinged with drop-leaf hinges (steel) set into top. Leaf has cherry bread-board ends butted and nailed to leaf ends. A single dovetailed drawer opens to the front has a cherry front with a single, between-centers turned beech knob, pine sides and back and a single board chestnut bottom. Pine top painted red.
