Tapered steel rod; hexagonal at small end, round at large end driven through center of a tapered wooden cylinder (possibly Liquidambar styraciflua, sweet gum). Tapers of wood pad and rod run in same direction; steel rod tapers from 11/64" to 5/32", wood tapers from 9/16" to 5/8" diameter.
