Cast steel heel-shaped cutter fitted to a turned hickory handle. The outside of the cutter has been ground and polished, and the cutting edge was machined, on three sides, to yield a pinked or zigzag edge. The fourth side was machined to cut a smooth edge.
This was used to cut fabric leaves with pinked edges for Shaker poplarware needle cases.
