The chest is made of butternut with a pine bottom, stained red. Dovetailed sides. Three inset metal hinges. Iron handles and heart-shaped bail plates on the ends, painted black. Mortised lock with key (two keys in chest; only one works for this lock). Lid rounded on all edges and overhangs slightly.
