Gathering basket of black ash splint, Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Woven basket with square bottom that slowly curves to echo circular lip. Relatively broad vertical splints 1/2" wide and smaller horizontal splints 1/4". Splints are crisscrossed along basket lip. Curved handle that is 3/4" wide and rises above basket for about 7" at longer point.
Notes
According a tag that was on the basket when it was acquired, the basket was used to hold or transport dishes to a room for visitors in the Trustee's Office.
