Oval box painted green with floral and vine decoration on the lid
1798-1810
Description
Steam-bent maple oval box (a) and lid (b) rims. Three swallow-tails on the box, and one on the lid, secured by wooden pegs and by inserting the tips of swallow-tails through slits in the box and lid walls, and gluing inside. White pine headers held by wooden pegs as well. Exterior painted green. Top decorated with a stylized vine in yellow paint around the perimeter of the oval, and yellow leaves and fruit with red blush in center.
