Object ID:
1958.10743.1
Community:
Massachusetts, Hancock
Description

Peg rail of pine with five between-centers turned cherry pegs. Rail has front arrises beaded, top and bottom. All pegs are secure in their mortises (whether or not the tenons are threaded cannot be ascertained). Rail washed yellow, pegs natural finish. Accession card notes that it was removed from a Shaker house built in 1820-1825 and taken down in the winter of 1958. Note: the building taken down in 1958 was the Sisters’ Workshop — a building made from buildings brought down from Hancock’s Noth Family.
