Journal with 5 5/16" x 5 7/8" x 43 1/4" beech (Fagus grandifolia) crossbeam, with a 4 3/4" x 8 3/4" x 20 3/8" ash (Fraxinus americana) bearing support mortised and tenoned through the beech cross beam. The joint is secured with three pins of ash, 3/4" in diameter. A 2 1/16" x 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" babbitt metal bearing is set into the face of the ash bearing supports. This was an end bearing since there is no hole through the support for the shaft.
