Red cedar (Juniperus virginiana) fence post. Bottom badly rotted where it had been buried. Post was originally about 2 3/4" square with chamfered arrises.
According to accession records, this was a post from the southwest corner of the fence that enclosed the fountain stone at the feast ground, known as Mt. Sinai, at Hancock.
