Beam
Pair of timbers, Tyringham, MA
Description
Two nearly identical timbers of maple (probably red, Acer rubrum). End of one completely rotted off.
Notes
Salvaged from the "Red Mill" at Tyringham, which was then collapsing; the building was originally a sawmill and barrel-making facility. These pieces were believed to be of a set with the press beam (1960.11643.1) and other timbers (1960.11643.4-.6), but the tenons and mortises do not match.
