Description

(.1) Carefully worked beam (11 3/4" H x 62 3/4" W x 8" D) of white ash (Fraxinus americana). The beam has a cutout that is grease-covered on the underside at one end, two angled relieves on each side which house the components forming X-braces and two bolt holes drilled vertically through the beam. (.2-.5) Four 2 1/4" x 5 7/8" x 65" braces of red oak (Quercus rubra). Ends are worked to fit into relieves on sides of beam (.1) and each piece is half-lapped along its length so as to fit together in an X-shape when ends are attached to the beam.
