Case, Pen
Staff pen case owned by Sister Sarah Bates, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Nicely made staff pen case, possibly of Atlantic white cedar (Chamaecyparis thyoides). The case was cut from a single piece of wood and the grain match between the lid and the box has been maintained on both sides and ends. A cavity to accommodate the staff pen has been carved out of the box and the bottom of this cavity is lined with bright yellow paper. The lid pivots at one end on a brass rivet and the other end is both angled and scarfed to fit the similarly treated end.
