Eyeglass case, Sabbathday Lake, ME
Description
An eyeglass case made from a single piece of beech (Fagus grandifolia). Working from a lozenge-shaped blank, the lid is cut off one end, a cavity drilled and chiseled out, thin saw kerfs are cut into the case and lid to accept .015" tin plates. The plates are secured in the lid with two small brads on each side. Two more brads hold one end of each plate in the case and these serve as pivots for the lid to rotate on.
