Leather-covered trunk, Hancock, MA
Description
Leather-covered wood trunk with brass-headed upholstery tracks securing leather to wood trunk. Interior lined with paper white with green pattern. Lid hinged with butt hinges and held closed by an iron half-mortise lock, key lost. Leather handle at each end. Leather dyed black. Trunk was once saturated with water, causing the leather to dry out, become brittle and shrink, and pulled away from the tacks, resulting in much loss.
