Description

Carrier handle of sweet gum (Liquidambar styraciflua). Steam-bent, drilled, and sanded.

Notes

Likely to date from the period when Lillian Barlow and William Perkins made oval boxes and carriers for sale at the Second Family, Mount Lebanon, as this is the only time when sweet gum is known to have been used at Mount Lebanon.
