Description
(a) Slant-front desk base to secretary having cherry frames, butternut panels, and walnut moldings applied to insides of frames. Bin pulls on slant-front, Two banks of four drawers each in front with butternut fronts, walnut moldings forming frame, basswood sides, backs, and bottoms, and cast brass bin pulls with surface decoration. Desk interior has two wider draws at top over two banks of four narrow drawers in each and a center open compartment. Drawers are as above but with porcelain pulls. Back is molded frame and panel as are ends with a natural finish. (b) Cupboard top for secretary/slant-front desk. Frame and panel construction as with base. Cherry frames, butternut panels, walnut moldings. Doors (two) each have two panels and the cherry frames are joined with pinned mortises and tenons. Walnut crown mold around top. Interior has butternut shelf below center vertically and below shelf are 14 cubby-holes (two rows of seven each) also of butternut. Back and one end of cupboard interior covered with white wallpaper with gold and silver design. Door stops and inside top of pine. Door latches are brass with porcelain knobs.
