Description

A gear and arrow-shaped pointer from a clock reel. The gear and shaft were turned and carved from a block of elm, possibly American (Ulmus americana) and the arrow pointer looks like cast pewter. The shaft end has been carved to form a rectangular tenon which fits into the mortise cast in the pointer hub and the assembly is secured with an iron cut nail. The gear side opposite that with the shaft and pointer is painted yellow.
