Maple holder with strip of sheet metal held at one end by two nails and other end sprung upwards which can be depressed with thumb while pulling palm or straw across a series of 9 knife blades filed into a strip of metal mortised lengthwise into the wood body, parallel to the sheet metal holder.
Used to slit palm or straw into narrow strips suitable for weaving.
