Top
Beech top, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
A top, turned between centers of beech (Fagus grandifolia) with a 5/16" diameter hole through its center axis into which a between-centers turned maple (Acer spp.) bearing point and 5/16" diameter shaft is inserted. A 1/16" diameter x 17/32" brass pin is inserted through the maple shaft about 1/8" above the top of the top body that presumably served to catch the string used to set the top spinning.
