Miter template, Mount Lebanon, NY
Description
Miter template fashioned from a block of beech. A side of the template is deeply rabbeted so as to sit over the edge of the stock to be mitered. Each end is cut to a 45 degree angle so that with a roughly cut miter on the end of the work stock, the template could be lined up with the rough cut and an accurate 45 degree miter produced by paring the work stock with a sharp chisel using the mitered surface of the template as a guide.
