From above "The Trough," Mount Lebanon Shaker Village in the Distance
Description
This photograph was made from an elevated vantage point on the hills west of the Shaker Swamp looking to the east with Mount Lebanon Shaker Village visible part way up the eastern hills. What is now New York State Route 22 is visible on the right hand side of the photograph with cultivated farm land on its east and west. In the distance from left to right the Shaker Village appears through a fog. First are the tops of several of the Church Family buildings followed by the Center Family buildings in the center and the Second Family building to their right. Directly below the Center Family a small group of buildings -- a dwelling and barns -- built by the Shakers for their hired men can be seen.
