Stereographic view of the Great Barn at the Church Family, Canterbury, NH. The stereograph, created by H. A. Kimball, Concord, New Hampshire, shows the Canterbury Shakers' Cow Barn built in 1858 and destroyed by fire in 1973. When it was built it was the largest frame barn in New Hampshire. It was 200 feet long (250 feet including the end ramps) and 45 feet wide. In addition, the barn had two connected wings. The photograph includes the Church Family Wood House.The stereograph was created by mounting two curved-top photographs on the card to create a stereographic pair. The front of the card is printed. "Photographed by H. A. Kimball, Concord, New Hampshire," at one end and " Concord and Miscellaneous Views," at the other. Across the bottom is printed, "No. Shaker Village, Canterbury." The back of the card is not printed with the views that were part of the series but bears a hand-written inscription, "Great Barn 240 x 45 ft."
