Description

A de-icer for horse hooves consisting of a length of heavy gauge wire inserted through a piece of 3/4" diameter heavy gauge rubber hose. The assembly is bent to the shape of a horse shoe and the protruding wire ends bent back over the rubber hose.

Notes

This commercially made device was slipped inside the shoe of a horse to prevent accumulation of an ice ball in the hoof. According to Brother Delmer Wilson of Sabbathday Lake, ME, it did not work well.
