Engraving

Description

Two engravings framed together one above the other. Secured by mat board and glass contained in a black wood frame with gold inner edge. Upper image is 8 3/16" x 9 1/2". It portrays two Shaker brethren, one standing and one seated, instructing a roomful of Shaker boys. Two boys sit at a desk with their backs to the viewer, one of whom is whispering to the other; a group of boys stand at the center of the scene; and an indeterminate number sit at desks in the background. Lower image, 7" x 9 1/2", portrays Shaker Sisters working along an L-shaped counter near a large cone-shaped stove. A Brother and Sister are at the foreground near a group of baskets filled with linens.
