Description

Diploma. Center has scene of the interior of a long hall with coffered ceilings and Corinthian columns. Inside hall different tables with goods are set up and people are walking through the aisles, point at items, and are in conversation. Scene is surrounded by an oval block border with different craft being performed depicted within each; clockwise: sculpture, music, printing, harnessmakers, bookbinding, lamp making, woodworking, smelting, glassblowing, haberdashery, tailoring, furniture making, blacksmithing, textile-working, pottery, wood-turning, shoemaking, barrel making, wheel construction, and painting. Top central block depicts an archer with the text "UNION IS STRENGTH" and an eagle above. The oval has a pedestal symbolizing farm and sea. Scenes outside the frame portray men building a Grecian building and a sea port with boats and manufacturing in the background. The Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association seal in lower left corner. Cream colored border, while ground has faded to light brown.
