Apron

Linen apron inscribed "CF", Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY

ca. 1840-1870

Object ID:
1951.4273.1
Community:
New York, Mount Lebanon
Description

Handwoven linen. Looks like the material used to make neckerchiefs with the blue border stripe detail. Three panels were machine-sewn together to make apron. Horizontal stripe on top and bottom edge is a slightly different color blue and appears wider than the vertical stripes, same pattern.

Notes

Given to the donor, Mrs. George Roberts, by Sister Corinne Bishop of the Church Family, Mount Lebanon, NY. "CF" most likely refers to Sister Cornelia French, also of the Church Family.
