Description

Round measure or spit box with a fixed handle added. Steam-bent ash rim and reinforcing rim. The container rim is joined at a scarf joint by a vertical row of nine iron tacks. The reinforcing rim is attached to the container with iron tacks as well. White pine bottom header held by iron cut nails. Steam-bent hickory handle fastened to the inside of the container with four iron tacks on each side. No discernible finish; however, the disparate woods used are all similarly colored now, indicating that some sort of stain or wash was probably applied.
