Description

Circular saw blade set (a) consisting of a maple anvil base and an iron block supporting the iron anvil. Another piece of maple is lap-jointed to the anvil base and extends 20" from the base. A maple hinge cleat is screwed to the top of the anvil base and a pair of small brass butt hinges are secured to the cleat top. The other two hinge leaves are attached to the underside of yet another maple component that overlays the piece joined to the base. This component is slotted (9/16" x 15 1/4") down its center and originally a fixture for holding the circular saw blade slid in this slot. The angle between the saw blade teeth and the top of the anvil was adjustable by means of a hickory thumb screw (b) that is threaded through a 7/16" tapped hole in the end of the maple joined to the anvil base.
