Forged iron pick head secured to an elliptical cross-section oak handle by two forged iron straps, the hooked ends of which are inserted through a rectangular hole in the head where the hooks overlap the ends of the hole. The straps are riveted to either side of the handle bottom. The oak handle has been steam bent to for a shallow arc.
